Build Your Own Wooden Kiteboard Rack (Easy Way – DIY)

If you are looking for a nice way to hang your kiteboard in your apartment you are at the right place. On the web I found only very simple solutions, so I built my own kiteboard rack myself, which I would like to show you.

In the first step, I looked for a nice wooden trunk. In my case, it is cherry wood. With the help of the chainsaw you can cut the log into the appropriate size and then cut in half in length. The hardest work you have now already done.
As you can see in the photo, a cut is now made in the trunk. Your kiteboard will later stand in this cut. The angle and the width of the cut is individually selectable. I recommend you to take an angle as steep as possible to be able to present the kiteboard in the best possible way.

In principle, the simplest version of the kiteboard rack is now ready. You can drill two holes in the cut and attach your kiteboard rack to the wall with screws. I recommend you to use dowels, because depending on the trunk size, the weight will be very large.

If you want to embellish your kiteboard rack, you can install light elements. In my case, I have two lamps in rust optics in the lower area of the trunk and a lamp on the side facing the ceiling recessed into the wood. Through the upper lamp you have the nice looking effect of indirect lighting. As illuminants I have installed the Philips Hue GU10, so I can dim the light and change the colors. In addition, voice control is possible via Amazon Alexa or Google Home Kit. As you can see in the photos, you can create the right ambience for any occasion.

Last but not least, I rubbed the Kiteboard Rack with linseed oil to highlight the grain of the wood. I also lined the support surface inside the cut with foam. This not only protects the board from scratches, but can also be used to compensate for small height differences.

If you are going to install lighting elements in your kite rack, it is important to drill the cable channels in advance. On the wall side you should cut out a small box where all cables run together. This is also where the connection to the power cable is made. Depending on where you hang the kiteboard rack, you can lay a cable channel up to the socket.

I hope I could give you some ideas in building your kite stand. Feel free to write me a comment if you have any questions about the selfmade building of the kite rack.
