King Of The Air 2021 Postponed

Probably the biggest kite tournament, the Red Bull King of the Air was postponed due to the Corona situation in South Africa.

The original date was January 30 – February 14 2021, but an exact date to postpone is not yet known. Here is the letter published by some KOTA participants:

We currently find ourselves amidst a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa. The recent spike has resulted in various new regulations. Unfortunately included in this is full closure of all beaches in Cape Town.

It is highly uncertain when beaches will be reopened once again and when permissions to stage events will be avaible.

This has sadly left us with no choice but to postpone Red Bull King of the Air until Nov/Dec 2021. An announcement will be made in August on exactly when the next edition of Red Bull King of the Air will run.

We want to thank the kiting community and athletes for ongoing support and understanding during this global situation. We encourage everyone to listen to the medical advice and stay safe.

We look forward to taking to the skies with you again soon.
